Professor Anubhav Mittal

BHB MBChB PhD FRACS

 

Prof Mittal is a trained robotic surgeon undertaking complex robotic operations on the latest da Vinci XI Surgical System.  Benefits of the robot include enhanced 3D vision and instruments that allow for more precise operating – enabling complex operations to be done without the need to make big incisions.

Prof Mittal’s practice has a strong focus on evidence-based surgery and current technology.  He is well published and has taught on multiple surgical courses.

Prof Mittal is dedicated to his clinical work with a view to provide the best care to his patients. He is accredited  to practice at Royal North Shore Hospital, North Shore Private Hospital, Mater Hospital and Ryde Hospital.  Prof Mittal is also an Adjunct Professor of Surgery at Notre Dame University and a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Sydney, and  has previously served as the Director of Surgical Skills Training at the University of Sydney.

His surgical practice is informed by the latest research in his field, as is evidenced by his accomplishments in research, including the Sir Edward Hughes Memorial Clinical Research Prize in Surgery (2008), the Best Paper Prize awarded by the Australian and New Zealand Hepatic, Pancreatic and Biliary Association (2008), the Young Investigator Award as given by the Surgical Research Society of Australasia (awarded to him two years in a row, 2007 and 2008), and the Sir Louis Barnett Prize from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (2008).

Along with his clinical work, Prof Mittal is actively involved in surgical research and training.  He has published extensively and he is a regular speaker at international meetings and editorial boards related to pancreatic research. He is also a reviewer of the British Journal of Surgery,  BMC Gastroenterology, the International Journal of Genomics, the Journal of the Pancreas, the Journal of Surgical Research, and the World Journal of Surgery.

Prof Mittal is happy to take on emergency and elective cases.  All elective referrals will be seen within 7 days.  Private patients can choose between North Shore Private Hospital and Mater Hospital.  Public patients have the option of Ryde Hospital or Royal North Shore Hospital.
